Building permit values off to slower start in 2019

A six story assisted living facility in the downtown area and an addition to an industrial property on Queens Drive were among the significant building permits issued in the City of Red Deer last month.

According to City officials, total building permit values remained strong in January, despite being lower than the first month of 2018.

Residential, commercial and industrial permits all increased over the same month of the previous year, but a drop in public permits resulted in an overall decrease.  

Total permit values were $20.5 million last month, compared to $29.9 million in January of 2018.
