The Town of Rocky Mountain House will be holding a by-election following the resignation of Town Councillor Scott Collinson.

In his resignation letter, Collinson cites work commitments that will have him away from Rocky Mountain House for extended periods of time as his reason for resigning from council.

“I leave this position with a sense of sadness and loss, but also I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with all of the incredible people who have filled the council chambers during my time on council,” he wrote.

Collinson’s resignation took effect Feb. 4. He was serving his first term on council after being elected in Oct. 2017.

The Town has 90 days in which to hold a by-election to fill the vacant council seat.
