100+ Women Who Care support The Mustard Seed

Feb 7, 2019 | 10:29 AM

Around 110 women came together Monday at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club to support local charities.

100+ Women Who Care meets four times a year to donate money to charities that are nominated. They vote on which charity to support and typically raise over $15,000 at each meeting.

This past Monday saw The Mustard Seed gain the most votes to receive $19,000 this time around.

Scott Tilbury with The Mustard Seed talked about the impact a donation like this does for them.

“The money will help us lower the overall cost to providing school lunches. We provided 55,000 lunches to children in 30 different schools last year. It will help us to purchase fruit, which is very expensive, milk which will be in addition to what we provide and school lunch kits to children.”

Tilbury expressed his gratitude for the women who made the donation.

“We are so thankful, so thrilled for the wonderful support and care of 100 Women. They care so much about non-profit organizations in the city including The Mustard Seed. They believe strongly in making our community a better, healthier and stronger place to live.”

100+ Women Who Care have raised over $300,000 to local charities since 2015.

Their next meeting is April 15th. More information is available at 100womenreddeer.ca.
