Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Drayton Valley.

The warning is in effect for:

Brazeau Co. near Drayton Valley and Breton
Co. of Wetaskiwin near Alder Flats and Winfield
Co. of Wetaskiwin near Pigeon Lake
Leduc Co. near Calmar and Devon
Leduc Co. near Warburg Thorsby and Pigeon Lake
Ponoka Co. near Crestomere
Ponoka Co. near Rimbey Bluffton and Hoadley

A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills continues.

Wind chill values near minus 40 will continue this morning.

Extreme cold conditions are expected to come to an end by this afternoon as an approaching low pressure system brings in cloud and snow causing temperatures to warm slightly.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Drayton Valley RCMP weekly report: Feb. 7 - Feb. 14
