Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis has announced it will dispense 10 more retail cannabis licenses.

The organization says it is able to do so because of improvements in the Alberta government's marijuana supply.

Though the AGLC is yet to specify who will get the licenses, it notes that it has maintained a queue of approved retailers and will issue the 10 licenses on a first-in, first-out basis.

“After seeing a modest improvement in supply over the last few weeks, we are confident the inventory can accommodate an additional 10 retail locations," says Alain Maisonneuve, AGLC President. "AGLC continues to work with our licensed producers and current retailers towards solutions that will support a sustainable marketplace.”

AGLC also points out it is in talks with an additional 12 producers across Canada to secure increased supply.

There are currently 65 retail cannabis shops in Alberta, including one in Red Deer.
