A local commercial helicopter company says the province’s Bighorn Country proposal will have a significant negative impact on their business.

Alhambra-based Ahlstrom Air is an on-demand commercial helicopter charter company that has millions of dollars invested in aircraft, equipment and structures.

Company spokesperson Monica Ahlstrom says helicopters can’t land in a provincial park, provincial wildland or recreation area without a permit, which can take weeks to acquire.

She it will impact their business in a big way if they need to wait for a permit.

Most of Ahlstrom Air’s work takes place in areas within the proposed boundaries for the new provincial park.

Ahlstrom is also concerned that if the office to gets permits is closed and an accident happens they won’t be able to help.
