Nominations open for Lifetime Sport Achievement, Athlete of the Year awards

Nominations are open for the Lifetime Sport Achievement Award, sponsored by The City of Red Deer.

The award recognizes an outstanding sportsperson who has made a significant contribution towards the development and operation of amateur sport in Red Deer. The 2019 recipient will be the 55th individual to receive this prestigious award.

Among the criteria for the award, nominees should reflect a genuine interest in the overall growth of amateur sports in Red Deer, be known as having enhanced or developed an amateur sport/sports in Red Deer, and exemplify good sportsmanship, leadership and is a role model looked upon by all.

Nominees should have a minimum five years community service and involvement in Red Deer amateur sports. Involvement in non-sport community organizations will also be taken into consideration.

A nominee does not have to be active with a sport association during the previous year.

The deadline for nominations for the Lifetime Sport Achievement Award, as well as the Red Deer Advocate Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards, is January 31. More details are available at the Alberta Sport Development Centre Central website.
