The blowing snow advisory issued Saturday has ended.

A blowing snow advisory is in effect for Red Deer and parts of central Alberta.

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations, Environment Canada says.

Strong northwesterly winds with gusts to 70 km/h are forecast to develop behind a low pressure centre Sunday morning. These winds combined with falling snow may give locally reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Conditions will improve Sunday afternoon as the winds weaken.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.

Alberta RCMP are advising against driving on highways across the province due to heavy snowfall and extremely poor road conditions Stony Plain Mounties are investigating a collision involving 30 vehicles
