Rebels acquire 17-year-old goaltending prospect

The Red Deer Rebels announced Monday that they have acquired 17-year-old goaltending prospect Eric Ward from the Seattle Thunderbirds.

In exchange, Seattle receives a 7th round selection in the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Ward is currently suiting up for his hometown Edmonton Canadian Athletic Club in the Alberta (AAA) Midget Hockey League.

In 12 games this season, Ward has a record of 5-4-3, a GAA of 3.42 and a SV% of .907.

In two preseason games with the T-Birds this fall, Ward went 1-1-0-0 with a GAA of 2.90 and a SV% of .913.
