Call for visual artists for Store Front Gallery project in Red Deer

Dec 7, 2018 | 7:01 AM

RED DEER- The City is seeking visual artists to participate in the Store Front Galleries initiative in downtown Red Deer during the 2019 Canada Winter Games, February 15 to March 3, 2019.

Store Front Galleries is a partnership between artists and property owners to create a temporary gallery, exhibition or interactive space in the window-fronts of prime downtown locations.

Similar programs in other cities have proven very successful in driving traffic downtown and generating buzz for properties.

“This is a great opportunity to support the creative economy of Red Deer when we welcome more than 100,000 visitors to our city next year,” said Wendy Meeres, Culture Community Development Coordinator. “It’s a unique way of invigorating the downtown and enhancing the celebratory feel that the 2019 Canada Winter Games will create in our community.”

Artists working in any discipline are encouraged to submit ideas.

All artists are encouraged to submit but preference will be given to Red Deer and Central Alberta residents.

The deadline to apply is December 31.

For more information and to access the submission form, visit http://www.reddeer.ca/whats-happening/2019-canada-winter-games/arts–culture-festival/ or contact Culture Services at 403-406- 8820.
