Anders turns heads with shiny new mask

The ‘Brent Sutter Era’ of Red Deer Rebels history has had many constants.

One of them is that goalies have been allowed only to wear masks that are either solid white or solid black.

Until now.

Many eyebrows were raised last weekend when Rebels netminder Ethan Anders took to the crease with a shiny new mask featuring Rebels logos and images from Alberta’s oil patch and farm scenes.

As Anders explains it, the new mask was (believe it or not) Sutter's idea...

If nothing else, Anders' slick new lid matches the slick numbers he's posted so far in the 2018-19 WHL season. The Regina native has 15 wins (3rd in the league) in 23 starts with a 3.13 goals-against-average (7th) and .913 save-percentage (8th).

The Rebels are back in action this weekend with home games Friday vs. Regina and Saturday vs. Swift Current.
