Rally in Drayton Valley calling for pipeline construction

Dec 4, 2018 | 11:20 AM

Drayton Valley residents are being encouraged to attend a rally at the community’s Clean Energy Technology Centre (5400 22 Ave.) this afternoon to send the message – ‘Build Pipelines Now’.

Event organizers say the rally is meant to be respectful and ‘apolitical’, meaning no favoritism to any political party but to simply build momentum in the call for construction of pipelines to ship Alberta’s oil to other world markets outside the U.S.

The rally will be followed by an evening with writer and researcher Vivian Krause starting at 4:30.

Krause, described as a fighter for the Canadian Oil and Gas industry will join Brazeau County council for a discussion on the need to build pipelines.

Attendees are reminded to dress warm and car pool as parking at the facility is limited.

However, event organizers say Mr.Mikes, the Ramada Hotel and the Best Western have all offered parking in their parking lots, as well as the Town of Drayton Valley parking lot south of the Southside Petro Can.

Organizers say the rally is about the families and people of Drayton Valley and not politics.

Donations to the Food Bank are graciously being accepted.
