Dreeshen secures UCP nomination for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake

Devin Dreeshen has been nominated by the United Conservative Party to run in the constituency of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake during next year’s provincial election.

Party leader Jason Kenney released the following statement on Dreeshen’s nomination:

“Devin was elected to represent the constituents of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake in the Alberta legislature just a few short months ago, and in his time as MLA he has been made a significant contribution to the efforts of our United Conservative team. Devin’s deep understanding of the importance of healthy relationships with Alberta’s trading partners is why I asked him to serve as the Official Opposition Trade Critic when he was first elected. As a fifth-generation farmer, Devin knows how vital the agriculture sector is to the people of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and the economic fortunes of the province as a whole. Devin has been and will continue to be an incredibly valuable member of our United Conservative team as we seek to defeat the NDP, reignite the Alberta economy, and get our province back on track.”

Dreeshen’s work on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign has been widely documented.

Kenney told The Canadian Press earlier this year, “I think it’s actually helpful to have in our caucus an MLA who can get people on the phone in the U.S. administration, who knows some of them and has worked with some of them. I’m not a fan (of Trump), but I recognize he is the elected president of our largest trading partner and we have to deal with that administration.”

Dreeshen, the son of Red Deer – Mountain View MP Earl Dreeshen, was initially elected in a by-election earlier this year following the resignation of Don MacIntyre.
