Drayton Valley RCMP Weekly Report: Nov. 7-15, 2018

November 7

12:23 pm – Drayton Valley – Fraud – Report received of a rental property scam.  Individual looking for a place to rent in Drayton Valley had posted an ad for same.  They were contacted by a person who said they had a place to rent.  Asked them to send a deposit and they would send them the keys.  It appears that fraudsters search the internet for houses that are for sale, then pose as the owners of the property.  No money was exchanged. 

7:41 pm – Drayton Valley, 47 Street – Suspicious vehicle – Report of a suspicious 4 door dark grey car, been at the location since approximately 3 pm – Member attended, vehicle had run out of gas. 

November 8

8:41 am – Drayton Valley, Seasons Retirement Community – Suspicious person – Report of 2 suspicious males wearing hoodies were observed at approximately 3:20 am.  Nothing had happened.  Wanted police to be aware.

2:21 pm – Drayton Valley, 40 Street – Theft from truck – Report of theft from truck which was parked in front of their residence.  Items stolen include a Dewalt drill, Impact, tool bag, drill bits and drivers, 5 batteries, Dewalt stereo and miscellaneous winter work wear. 

4:09 pm – Rocky Rapids – Theft from vehicle – Report of work truck toolbox broken into and hand tools stolen.  Fluke multimeter, screw drivers, knives, tin snips etc.

November 9

12:20 am – Drayton Valley, 45 Street – Suspicious person – Report of a male outside residence and trying to get in.  Male in residence opened the door and hollered at the male who refused to leave.  Members attended quickly, footprints observed in the snow were followed around the residence to a nearby road.  Male described as larger build, stringy mustache, dirty looking, dark hair, dark clothes.

2:43 am – Drayton Valley, 44A Avenue – Mischief to vehicle – Complainant reporting that someone attempted to steal their truck.  The suspect was in the truck, a neighbour advised them.  No damage to vehicle it had been left unlocked.  Nothing taken from vehicle.  Patrols made, no description provided.

7:40 am – Brazeau County – Motor Vehicle Collision – Report of a 2 vehicle motor vehicle collision.  One vehicle had hit a power pole.  Members attended.  Road conditions very icy due to freezing rain.  One male transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

8:27 am – Tomahawk – Motor Vehicle Collision – Report of a picker truck hitting the back of a oil tanker. Members attended. Semi jack-knifed blocking traffic. Road conditions very icy due to freezing rain, no charges.

12:34 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant attended detachment to report a collision with a coyote north of Drayton Valley. Unknown if it was Wile E. Coyote.

13:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant advised receiving text messages from an unknown number and that the sender was persistent in wanting to know if he was a child or an adult and wanted to communicate further. Investigation still ongoing, information forwarded to specialized unit

13:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 40 St – Complainant reported his unlocked truck entered overnight and several items stolen

5:11 pm – Drayton Valley – complainant reported sending a deposit for a dog to a male who provided a Drayton Valley address. Complainant was in Blackfalds and it is suspected the entire transaction was fraudulent.

9:53 pm – Lodgepole area – complainant reported being followed by a suspicious truck on Hwy 620 toward the Brazeau Dam. Complainant reported the vehicle was driving erratically, flashing its lights etc, possibly trying to get her to stop. Members attended the area, truck not located and complainant safely arrived at home.

November 10

12:53 am – Lodgepole area – members in the area observed a truck possibly related to a major incident in Rocky Mountain House area. Drayton Valley members followed and eventually pursued the vehicle which was stopped with use of a spike belt near Cynthia. A shot was fired by suspects at the scene.  Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, along with neighbouring detachments assisted. Several persons located nearby and more later in Rocky Mountain House area. Charges have been laid in relation to the incidents in Drayton Valley RCMP’s area. Twenty-nine year old Evan Foureyes is charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited and five breaches of conditions. Twenty-five-year old Jamie WHITFORD is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle while being Pursued by Police.

10:50 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that a male was refusing to pay a fine to pickup his cat that had been found and turned in. Member contacted the complainant who advised an arrangement had been made and police weren’t required

November 11

1:17 am – Drayton Valley – traffic stop due to lighting issues. Male driver issued warnings for vehicle equipment and for transporting Cannabis inappropriately in a vehicle

November 12

2:32 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – members attended after receiving a 911 call to a local hotel. On arrival a male was found displaying signs of drug use. The male was arrested and transported to hospital prior to being held in custody. Thirty-four year old Jori Muzyka has been charged with Sexual Assault, Assault, Resist Arrest and Mischief. Muzyka was held in custody pending payment of bail.  

8:27 pm – Cynthia area – Members attended to a report of a tanker truck collision on an industry road West of Cynthia. Brazeau Fire also attended. A 48 year old male from Blackfalds was located deceased in the cab of the truck. Next of kin notification done. Still under investigation

November 13

1:24 am – Drayton Valley – Drayton Valley Hotel – Complainant reported that her friend exited the bar and found an unknown female in her car.  Members attended and bystanders advised the suspect had got into a taxi toward 7-11

1:27 am – Drayton Valley – RCMP Detachment – Male in custody on unrelated matters attempted to escape after being unable to secure bail money.  The attempt was unsuccessful though it did result in further charges

3:39 am – Drayton Valley Hospital – Staff reporting that three males in a truck had dropped a deceased male into the ambulance bay. No obvious signs of trauma, death possibly result of drug overdose. Members attended, matter still under investigation. Next of kin notification conducted, autopsy results pending

November 14

3:18 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – anonymous complaint of neighbour playing loud music. Complainant threatened to go and turn it off himself. Duplicate call received, member attended and the music was turned down
