Thurber QB selected as Nissan TITAN for Grey Cup weekend

A local star of the high school gridiron will get to wrap up his season in style this coming weekend.

Josh Campbell, QB for the Lindsay Thurber Raiders, recently found out he’d been nominated and selected to be part of the first ever Nissan All-Canadian TITAN team.

Campbell, along with other high school football players from across the country, will play in an exhibition game in Edmonton during Grey Cup weekend. They’ll also meet CFL legends and attend the 106th Grey Cup on Sunday.

“They’re not just specific to football; toughness, innovation, notability,” Campbell said of the Nissan TITAN values, which also include tenacity and ambition.

“They’re all very applicable to life as well and I feel like Nissan has given these 70 players a great opportunity not only to develop as football players, but develop good life skills.”

Campbell, a Calgary Stampeders fan, has played football since he was in elementary school, and spent his first four years with the Thurber Raiders as a receiver.

He also plays and volunteers in other areas of the athletics department at his school, including doing scorekeeping, and lines for volleyball.

“This is an amazing opportunity to develop my football skills and play with players from across Canada,” Campbell concluded.

On Saturday, Campbell’s Raiders lost in the Tier 1 North final to Harry Ainlay.
