Alberta Advantage Party registered as official group

EDMONTON, AB — A founding member of Alberta’s former Wildrose Party is now the leader of the province’s newest official political party.

Marilyn Burns says the Alberta Advantage Party’s primary platform is integrity in government, with voters having the right to recall elected M-L-As.

Other policies on the party’s website state it wants Alberta to have the right to select its own immigrants, and would scrap the N-D-P’s legislation which ensures all schools have policies for gay-straight alliances

Alberta Advantage was added to Elections Alberta’s register of political parties on Friday after a canvassing campaign gathered 86-hundred signatures on a petition asking for the party to be registered.

The party will hold its annual general meeting this weekend in Lacombe.
