100 days until the 2019 Canada Winter Games

Just 100 days remain until the start of the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

The milestone was marked during an event at the Sheraton hotel Wednesday evening where 11 news sponsors for the Games were announced.

“In 100 days, Red Deer and central Alberta will be forever changed as we host the nation’s best athletes competing for gold in 19 sports,” said Lyn Radford, 2019 Canada Winter Games Host Society Board Chair. “This is our moment to showcase Red Deer to the rest of the nation and deliver a life-shaping experience to all participants.”

From February 15 until March 3, the 2019 Canada Winter Games will welcome up to 3,600 athletes, managers and coaches and more than 100,000 spectators to Red Deer and central Alberta.

New sponsors announced Wednesday include: Westerner Park (gold), Nossack Food Group (silver), and Pomeroy Lodging, Save-On-Foods, Tickets Alberta, Canalta Controls Ltd. Prairie Bus Lines, Proform Concrete Services, Sheraton Red Deer, Standard West Steel, Stems Flowers and Café as bronze sponsors.

A countdown clock was also unveiled Wednesday at the Sheraton that will be displayed each night until the start of the 2019 Canada Winter Games on February 15.
