SHERWOOD PARK- RCMP are still searching for a motive after two explosions at a county office in Sherwood Park.

Emergency crews were called to reports of a fire on Tuesday night at a complex that houses the Strathcona County office, council chambers and the town library in Sherwood Park.

R-C-M-P Superintendent Dave Kalist says there was an explosion in the building's underground parkade, which prompted an evacuation.

He says a 21-year-old man was found in a vehicle in the parkade and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A second explosion occurred as police were investigating the first one, but no one was injured.

Kalist says the motive for the explosions is part of the ongoing investigation.

Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank says he has full confidence that the police investigation will answer some questions in the community.
