Kids in Devon, Thorsby find pins in Halloween candy

Nov 2, 2018 | 5:32 PM

RCMP in two central Alberta communities are investigating incidents of Halloween candy tampering.

Mounties in Devon say an alert child discovered pins in three different treats – a marshmallow candy, a Starburst and a deflated bag of Cheetos. It is believed the treats were all disbursed from the same house.

“It’s lucky that the child in this incident had the awareness to check the candies prior to them being consumed,” says Sergeant Jolene Nason, Devon RCMP Detachment Commander.  “This is a very alarming occurrence but we want to assure our Devon citizens that this is the anomaly in our community and we are working to solve this. The safety of our community is an RCMP priority.”

In Thorsby, police say a child came across a pin inserted into a Halloween chocolate bar.
