Three charged in north end crime spree

Oct 29, 2018 | 2:15 PM

Two men and one woman are facing charges in connection to an incident last Thursday night where a police vehicle was rammed.

It was October 25 at about 5:30 p.m. when RCMP members on patrol in north Red Deer spotted a stolen truck driving in the area of Jewel Street and James Street.

Police say when the truck entered an alley behind James Street, they initiated a traffic stop.

The suspect truck, a Ford F150, rammed the police vehicle in an attempt to flee, causing extensive structural damage to a fence and garage at a nearby residence.

The truck then became stuck on a transformer box, which caused the neighbourhood to lose power for several hours.

RCMP arrested two people at the truck, and another after a brief foot pursuit. A fourth suspect successfully fled the scene and has not been located.

No officers or civilians were injured as a result of the collisions, though the female suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated in hospital before being released back into RCMP custody.

RCMP seized fentanyl during the arrests, and they add that the truck was stolen out of Blackfalds, while its license plate was stolen out of Fort McMurray.

Nickolas Tweedle, 21, was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to comply with probation and failing to appear in court. He now faces additional counts related to stolen property, flight from police, and driving without insurance and registration, and while unauthorized.

He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court October 31.

Trent Tyler Roan, 25, faces two counts of breach of court order, and will appear in court November 1.

Shyla Loustel, 23, faces one count of possession of a scheduled substance, and one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer. She appears in court next on October 30.
