Plenty of local talent to compete at CFR 45

Oct 16, 2018 | 10:00 PM

A large number of central Alberta competitors will be enjoying ‘home field advantage’ when they compete in the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer.

Among them is Stettler cowboy Riley Warren, who leads all contenders for the CPRA season high point title. The tie-down roper and team roper has earned $41,511 this season and holds a $7000 lead over second place man Kyle Lucas heading into CFR.

Ponoka barrel racer Shayna Weir is set to compete in her first CFR.

“I’ll quite enjoy being close to home,” Weir said Tuesday. “I can travel back and forth. My horse will enjoy being home every night so it will be a lot easier on her.”
