A late night crash on Friday has resulted in the death of a 46-year-old man.

Ponoka RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit says members were dispatched at 10:25 p.m. to a serious motor vehicle collision northbound on the QEII at the Hwy 53 overpass near Ponoka.

A pickup truck hauling a utility trailer collided with a mini-van and an SUV, all of which were northbound.

The mini-van caught on fire and the male driver vehicle remained trapped inside. He succumbed to his injuries.

The male driver of the truck was not injured and the female driver of the SUV was transported to hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say weather is considered to be a contributing factor in the crash. No further details are available at this time.
