Progress continues on the rebuild of Westpark Middle School.

Red Deer Public Schools says the contractor for the project, Shunda Construction, has told them that work on the new school is 40 per cent complete and on schedule for spring completion.

It is anticipated the new school will be turned over to the district at the end of May with students starting classes in the building in September 2019.

Officials add the project continues to work towards a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification.

The province committed $15 million for the new school with The City of Red Deer committing $200,000 and Red Deer Minor Baseball giving $100,000.
