EDMONTON – A man faces six firearms charges after security officials at the Edmonton International Airport found two unauthorized handguns in a suitcase that had been checked in for a flight to Lebanon.

RCMP say they were notified about the find on Monday morning and police officers seized the two guns.

Mounties say a man identified as the owner of the luggage was arrested moments before his departure.

Mohamad Abdulgani Elkadri, who is 60, is charged with unsafe transport of a restricted weapon, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence and exporting a firearm without authorization.
