Haley Nassichuk-Dean of Queens Soccer and Troy Trombley of Kings Hockey are the latest RDC Boston Pizza Athletes of the Week.

Nassichuk-Dean made a significant impact last Saturday on the pitch in helping the Queens defeat the Lakeland College Rustlers 4 – 0 in Lloydminster. The second year Bachelor of Science student scored three consecutive goals in the 12th, 28th and 70th minute for the natural hat trick. Nassichuk-Dean, from Crossfield, generated a large amount of offence and finished with six shots on goal, earning the Queens Player-of-the-Game. With the win, the Queens move to 6 – 1 – 1 and remain in second spot in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Soccer South Division, ranking them 14th in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Goaltender Trombley backstopped Kings Hockey to back-to-back wins against the talented NAIT Ooks lats weekend. In Friday’s 6 – 2 home victory he turned aside 21 out of 23 shots (0.913) and made some key saves especially while killing an Ooks’ two-man advantage. Then in Saturday’s 3 – 2 road win, the third-year student-athlete from Sherwood Park made another 29 saves (0.935) to help the Kings pick up an important four points in the ACAC Men’s Hockey standings in the opening weekend.
