Oct 9, 2018 | 10:45 AM

Witnesses helped City Mounties track down a suspected impaired driver Friday night.

At 9:15 p.m. on October 5, RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver in the area of 50 Avenue and 32 Street. Police received a second call regarding the same suspect vehicle after it struck an SUV at the intersection of 57 Street and Carleton Avenue.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot and was followed by witnesses, who informed police of his whereabouts inside a business in Clearview Market.

RCMP arrested the suspect and initiated an impaired driving investigation. Red Deer Emergency Services also attended the collision scene. At this point RCMP do not believe any serious injuries were sustained during the collision.
