RDC hosting ACAC Golf Championships this weekend

Sep 26, 2018 | 11:36 AM

The RDC Golf team will host the ACAC Golf Championships this Saturday and Sunday at Alberta Springs.

Queens and Kings golfers will look to improve upon their third place finishes at North Regionals, and there will be several interesting matchups.

Medicine Hat’s female golfers, Becky Martin (T-1st North Regional) and Sierra Zukowski (3rd), helped lead their team to first place, and are expected to challenge RDC’s Chloe Sies (T-1st) and Shaye Leidenius for an ACAC individual and team medal this weekend.

The Concordia University Women’s Golf team placed slightly ahead of the RDC Queens at regionals at Lac La Biche. Those results were also without RDC’s Leidenius on the course, and the talented Kinesiology student is expected to be back in action this weekend and will give the Queens a tremendous boost.

On the men’s side, first-year RDC student-athlete Chase Broderson palced thirdin Lac La Biche and will be in the mix for a medal this weekend.

Michael Harrison (U of A Augustana) and Connor Beeston (Concordia University) were the only ACAC male golfers to shoot lower than Broderson back on September 15 and 16.

RDC, MacEwan, Concordia, SAIT and Portage College will all be competing in the men’s championship.
