Citizens help Mounties arrest man in stolen vehicle after collisions
RCMP are thanking the public for their support in apprehending a suspected vehicle thief on Thursday but are reminding residents to not place themselves in harm’s way when dealing with criminals.
It was at 5:00 p.m. on September 20 when Mounties responded to reports of a truck driving at high speeds in north Red Deer and involved in a collision after allegedly running a red light at Taylor Drive and 60 Street.
The truck is then said to have collided with a transit bus that was stopped at Horn Street.
Police say the driver of the truck then fled on foot and was pursued by a number of citizens who restrained him in an alley behind Hewson Avenue until officers arrived.
