A large chemical spill has led to a fishing ban in west-central Alberta.
According to their website, the Alberta Energy Regulator was notified Sept. 10 that 4,000 cubic metres of chlorinated water had been released into a creek flowing into the Nordegg River.
The leak was due to a mechanical failure of a holding tank belonging to Westbrick Energy Ltd. at a site near Lodgepole.
All fishing on the Nordegg River, its tributaries and the Brazeau River downstream of Brazeau Reservoir is banned until further notice.
