Alberta High School Football week 3 power rankings

A number of central Alberta teams are listed in the latest power rankings from Football Alberta.

For week three, Lindsay Thurber ranks #8 in Tier 1 and next play Lacombe. Thurber most recently beat Jasper Place 29-14.

In Tier 2, Hunting Hills ranks falls three spots to #10 with a record of 0-2. The Lightning lost to Foothills 20-3 and play Notre Dame next.

The Notre Dame Cougars didn’t rank after falling 41-1 to third-ranked St. Joe’s out of Grande Prairie on Saturday.

The Tier 3 rankings feature Sylvan Lake at #3 with a 2-0 record after defeating Ponoka 32-14. They have a matchup against Stettler upcoming. Frank Maddock High School in Drayton Valley sits #10 with a record of 1-1.

Down another tier, Stettler ranks #5 with a 2-0 record. They beat Holy Trinity 41-6 and have Sylvan Lake coming up next.

In the 6-man rankings, Rimbey slots in at #3, down from #1 last week. Rimbey lost to Hanna’s J.C. Charyk 58-28 and next play Millwoods Christian. Meanwhile, Breton moved up to claim the #1 spot after beating Caroline 46-26.

This week’s game of the week features the Tier 3 Cochrane Cowboys taking on the Tier 2 Chestermere Cowboys on September 21. If Cochrane wins, they will set a new Alberta high school record of 40 consecutive wins. 

Raymond High School has held the record of 39 straight since 1999. Cochrane’s last loss, palayoffs included, was October 25, 2014 to George McDougall.
