CIBC Run for the Cure happening Sept. 30

Hundreds of Red Deerians are anticipated to hit the trails at Bower Ponds later this month to help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The 26th annual CIBC Run for the Cure happens September 30, with this year’s event being the 16th in Red Deer.

Event day registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and both the 5K and 1K walk/runs getting underway at 10:00 a.m.

“We’re hoping most folks won’t arrive any later than 9:00, Just to get down there, hang out, take the time to socialize see what we have available for folks down there,” says event organizer Jamie Smith. “We’re going to have a DJ and a warm up session in advanced that’s all likely starting around 9:30 with our opening ceremonies.”

Early t-shirt pick-ups for both individual participants and teams will take place at the Running Room on 50 Avenue on September 27 and 28. Jamie also encourages participants to sign up in advance at cibcrunforthecure.com
