COCHRANE- A teenager accused of shooting and wounding a German tourist last month has been given a week to finalize the appointment of his lawyer.

The 16-year boy appeared yesterday via video link in Cochrane provincial court.

Calgary lawyer Lisa Burgis, who appeared on behalf of Balfour Der, asked for the delay to confirm Der will represent him.

The teen,  from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, faces attempted murder and other charges after the 60-year-old tourist was shot in the head while driving near the community of Morley, west of Calgary, on August 2nd.
