‘The Pink Cloudless’ exhibit examines domesticity, the duplicity of the home, void between maiden and motherhood

In the art exhibition The Pink Cloudless, on display at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) from September 15, 2018 to October 28, 2018, local artist E.M. Alysse Bowd explores the abstraction of domestic objects; the exhibition uses performed photography to articulate the contrariety of domesticity, the duplicity of the home, and the archetypal void between maiden and motherhood.

The Pink Cloudless is an exhibition of new work by E. M. Alysse Bowd cultivated at the Ewart Duggan House Residency at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

“Alysse’s project explores the mundane world of housekeeping,” says Lorna Johnson, Executive Director. “Her inquiry into the assumptions about the role of the ‘housewife’ and her poetic look at the domestic environment reveals that, filtered through the artist’s imagination  there is beauty and mystery, and perhaps magic, where it is least expected.”

The Pink Cloudless Opening Reception: Join the MAG from 2-4pm on Sunday, September 16th, 2018, for the opening reception of The Pink Cloudless. Artist Alysse Bowd will be onsite and there will be an artist performance at 2:30pm.
