Rocky RCMP Weekly Report: Aug 31 to Sept 5

Two people were arrested for intoxication and roughly $5000 worth of wire was stolen from a lease site in Clearwater County this week.

On August 31 at 6:51 p.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man lying on the pavement in the parking lot of a grocery store. A family member was able to take care of him.

On September 1 at 1:47 a.m., police received a complaint of an apartment fire in Rocky after smoke was seen coming from the building. Clearwater fire crews responded and cleared the building of smoke. The investigation revealed that an intoxicated tenant had been trying to cook potatoes.

On September 1 at 2:23 a.m., police received a complaint of a large group of people fighting at a bar in Rocky. Police spoke to one of the people involved. One intoxicated man was given a ride to the hospital with minor injuries, and no charges were laid.

On September 1 at 10:12 a.m., police received a complaint of fraud from a resident in Clearwater County who reported he had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the TD Fraud Department. They stated there were fraud charges on his bank cards, and proceeded to ask for the complainant’s card number and $1000 in iTunes cards. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre was advised.

On September 1 at 12:54 p.m., police received a report of a stole red 2000 Ford F350 Super Duty pickup with the Alberta license plate BMZ0525.

On September 1 at 5:00 p.m., police received a call of an intoxicated man on Main Street in Rocky. Police arrested the man who was lodged in cells until sober.

On September 2 at 8:54 a.m., a theft of roughly $5000 worth of ground cable was reported at a lease site in Clearwater County.

On September 3 at 12:26 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious male in a drive-thru of a restaurant in Rocky. Police arrested the occupants for possession of stolen property, as the vehicle has been reported stolen.

On September 4 at 11:38 p.m., police received a complaint of an $87 drink and dash from a bar in Rocky.

On September 5 at 9:42 a.m., police received a complaint of a break and enter at a school property on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. The culprit(s) drove through the fence and broke into the maintenance building, stealing tools and other items.
