Man charged after allegedly breaking into abandoned school and stealing copper wire

One man has been arrested after he allegedly entered the abandoned Evergreen Elementary School and stole copper wire from the building.

Drayton Valley RCMP say on September 2 just before 7:30 a.m. a call came in of people going into the school, which is currently being demolished, and stealing copper wire. 

After conducting an investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence on  45 Avenue where Mounties located numerous items related to copper wire thefts and drug trafficking. 

Thomas Davidson, 32, of Drayton Valley has been charged with a string of offences including possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
