Aug 23, 2018 | 6:14 AM

Brazeau County has passed the first reading to amend the current land use bylaw to incorporate rules around cannabis.

The amendments outline that retail sales will be allowed in commercial and light industrial districts as discretionary uses. Production & distribution will be allowed in light industrial, rural industrial and agricultural districts as discretionary uses.

Hours of operation for cannabis retail stores in the county are being set from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., and must be 100 metres from a school, hospital or Municipal Reserve parcel.

A public hearing is set for September 18, where any questions and concerns can be presented to council by county residents.
