Red Deerians came out in support of a great cause and had their vehicles washed too during a special fundraiser held at Original Joe’s Restaurant on Saturday.

The Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation hosted a charity car wash at Original Joe’s, with motorists pulling up to the downtown restaurant and having their vehicles washed by staff and other volunteers by donation.

In addition, visitors had a chance to throw some balls at the nearby dunk tank and see who they could sink for charity, with all proceeds from the dunk tank and car wash going to the Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation.

Smiles Thru Lindsey is an organization geared towards providing financial help to those with mental illness with the focus primarily on young adults.

Kari Paget with Original Joe’s says they and event partners The Carpet Doctor wanted to help out because it’s such a great cause.

“They provide support for the adolescents like suicide mental awareness, so we wanted to show our support to the community and do something fun on a Saturday afternoon,” says Paget.

Later this month, Drive-In Night will take place at Westerner Park in Red Deer with all proceeds also going to the Smiles Thru Lindsey Foundation.

The event will have a concession, classic cars on display and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on the big screen.
