UPDATE: Three killed in head-on crash near Sylvan Lake

Three people including a young child were killed in a head-on collision Monday night near Sylvan Lake. 

RCMP were dispatched at 9:19 p.m. to Highway 781, just south of the intersection with Range Road 382, where a truck and SUV collided head-on.

The 30-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the truck, 39-year-old male driver of the SUV and a 5-year-old passenger of the SUV were pronounced deceased. 

A 7-year-old passenger of the SUV was transported via STARS Air Ambulance to an Edmonton hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The highway remained closed for a period of time while the Collision Analyst attended the collision scene to conduct an investigation.

Police say there will be no further update in relation to this collision as charges will not be pursued.
