RED DEER- On the weekend of August 10-12, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) Red Deer zone, will be hosting the Western Canada Search and Rescue exercise out of the Red Deer Airport.

Aircrews from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC, and a 417 Combat Support Squadron Griffon helicopter from CFB Cold Lake, will be arriving Friday to take part in this large-scale training exercise.

The exercise will simulate a major, large scale search operation for a missing aircraft, that went missing some place between Carstairs, the Rockies, Drayton Valley, Rimbey, Forestberg, and Three Hills.

A mass briefing will be held at the Harvard Park officer’s mess building on Friday starting at 8 p.m. for the aircrews where they will be briefed on the overall operation and will receive their assigned tasks for the next day.
