Luckily, no one was hurt following a house fire in downtown Red Deer on Saturday.

Fire crews were called just before 5 p.m. to the blaze at a house at 4609 48 Street.

Assistant Fire Marshall Tim Kivell says how the flames began remains unknown.

“It started in the boot room on the main floor. It was some contents inside of a recycling bin that caught fire,” he explains. “There’s about $50,000 in damages. A lot of smoke extemded throughout the upper level of the home.”
