Sylvan Lake man busted for using fraudulent documents to buy vehicle
Police say a Sylvan Lake man took a wrong turn by trying to buy a vehicle using phony paperwork.
Sylvan Lake RCMP say they were contacted on July 21 by an employee of a car dealership in Edmonton who said a Sylvan Lake resident was attempting to purchase a vehicle with what appeared to be fraudulent documents.
On Thursday, Mounties executed a search warrant at a residence in Sylvan Lake and seized numerous items commonly used for producing and forging credit cards. These items included printers, laminating devices, blank credit cards and a series of credit card numbers. Numerous other stolen government identifications and identity documents were also located, police say.
James Jardine, 42, has been charged with unlawful possession of a device used for forging or falsifying credit cards, failing to comply with a recognizance, breach of probation, five counts of unlawful possession of stolen credit cards and five counts of unlawful possession of identity documents.
