Parks Day being celebrated this Saturday across Alberta

Jul 20, 2018 | 3:54 PM

July 21 is Alberta Parks Day and there are a few events happening right here in central Alberta.

“Parks Day is a day to celebrate the incredible opportunities our parks provide for Albertans, whether it’s hiking, biking, camping or just getting out of town for some peace and quiet,” says Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks.

“Our provincial parks also play an important role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem and protecting critical wildlife habitats. This Parks Day, I’m so pleased to announce our government is continuing to invest in Alberta’s provincial parks system to ensure Alberta families and visitors have an amazing and quality outdoors experience for generations to come.”

Parks across Alberta will host pancake breakfasts and barbecues for the public as well as fun activities such as sandcastle-building competitions, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses and nature walks.
