ENDED: The severe thunderstorm watch for Drayton Valley and surrounding area has ended.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Town of Drayton Valley and surrounding area.

Meteorologists say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms have developed along the foothills and are moving eastward. There is still the potential that the watch area will be expanded eastward this evening depending on how the storms evolve.

Co. of Wetaskiwin near Alder Flats and Winfield

Co. of Wetaskiwin near Pigeon Lake

Leduc Co. near Calmar and Devon

Leduc Co. near Warburg Thorsby and Pigeon Lake

Ponoka Co. near Crestomere

Ponoka Co. near Rimbey Bluffton and Hoadley
