EDMONTON – A charge of aggravated assault has been laid after an 85-year-old woman was struck and critically injured as she was walking next to a fast-food restaurant in Edmonton.

Reports indicate a sport-utility vehicle hit the woman before it went through the front of the business and stopped in the lobby.

Police say the driver and pedestrian are known to each other, but they haven’t released any other details.

Donna Elder, who is 60, has been remanded until her next court appearance on July 23.
