RCMP Major Crimes South have made an arrest in relation to a man’s death in Red Deer more than a year ago.

Mounties arrested 34-year-old Gabriel Juma We Agotic of Red Deer in Calgary on Monday and charged him with one count of manslaughter. He has been remanded into custody and is due in Red Deer provincial court on July 19.

Agotic is charged in connection to the death of Mathiang Chol.

It was just after 6 a.m. on March 29, 2017 when Red Deer RCMP were dispatched to an apartment to assist with a male suffering from serious injuries after being assaulted.  He was eventually flown to a Calgary hospital and placed on life support but died the following day.
