Interchange Update: Summer changes for southbound QE II traffic

As work continues on the QE II/Gaetz Avenue Interchange, a temporary traffic pattern change will be in effect starting Wednesday, weather pending, and will be in place for the summer.

Officials say southbound QE II Highway traffic will be detoured onto the northbound lanes where both northbound and southbound traffic will operate. Two lanes will be accommodated in each direction and traffic will be separated by barriers.

Flatiron Constructors Canada, the lead contractor for the interchange project, says the temporary traffic pattern change is required for crews to complete the construction of the new southbound collector-distributor road and allow for the demolition of the old northbound bridge.

A reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will remain in effect throughout the construction zone, day and night.
