Jul 11, 2018 | 8:46 PM

Evansburg RCMP say the body of a 37-year-old man from Edmonton has been pulled from the Pembina River.

Mounties were dispatched Wednesday afternoon around 1 p.m. after a report of a body being found near the edge of the Pembina River by Entwistle below the Highway 16 bridge.

With assistance from local fire department and Fish and Wildlife, police were able scale down the rugged terrain and steep cliffs in the area and recovered the man’s body.

The recovery operation lasted several hours, resulting in the closure of a popular river rafting area.
