Sylvan Lake RCMP recover stolen property on Kijiji

Jul 10, 2018 | 4:18 PM

RCMP in Sylvan Lake have arrested two males who are alleged to have attempted to sell stolen property on Kijiji.

Mounties say it was June 15 when a break and enter at a cabin in the Buck Lake area was reported to police.

Several items were stolen and then listed on Kijiji. With the assistance of the owner, RCMP members located and recovered the property and arrested two males.

During the arrests, several other pieces of stolen ID were found in the males’ possession.

“Assistance from the home owner who remained diligent about seeking his stolen property was instrumental in the RCMP solving this investigation” says Staff Sergeant Andrew Shepherd of the Sylvan Lake RCMP Detachment.

Mitchell Jeffrey Murray, 35, of Sylvan Lake, is facing nine charges, including trafficking in stolen property, and possession of forged documents and stolen cheques.

Taylor Austin Kemp, 25, also of Sylvan Lake, faces charges of trafficking stolen property and breach of probation.

Both Murray and Kemp have been released and are scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on July 19.
