Temporary road closure in effect Tuesday morning as derricks come down

Jul 10, 2018 | 6:13 AM

Access to the Ring Road via 50th Street will be temporarily closed this morning for the removal of the three derricks at the south entrance of Drayton Valley.

Motorists should expect to see barricades in place across Helena Drive while workers detour traffic north to use either 43 Avenue or 50th Avenue access to Drayton Valley. Local residents on 18th Avenue between 50th Street and Helena Drive will be allowed access to and from their properties from the east.

The road will be closed from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. while work is completed.

The derricks will be painted blue as part of the town’s new brand that was put in place in the summer of 2016.
