Clearview Public Schools hiring additional educational assistants

Jul 3, 2018 | 7:45 AM

Clearview Public Schools will be spending the bulk of its 2018-19 Classroom Improvement Fund (CIF) budget on hiring additional educational assistants.

Alberta Education has specified that CIF dollars “should be used for staffing and/or professional learning with an emphasis on supporting students with special needs.”

Clearview teachers were surveyed asking what their priorities would be for use of the CIF dollars.  A key priority identified was to have additional training for teachers with respect to the Scholastic Resources.  As well, teachers identified a need for additional educational assistants.

On June 27, Clearview received approval from Alberta Education on how to use $362,000 Classroom Improvement Fund. $212,000 is going to the hiring of additional educational assistants, $125,000 to additional professional learning of teachers on literacy, $15,000 on additional professional learning to support the Collaborative Response Model, and $10,000 to additional professional learning with respect to special education/inclusive learning.
